About
Anya Alekhina is a Russian-born filmmaker and educator based in Lisbon, Portugal. She completed her journalism studies in Moscow and began working in video, editing television series and documentaries. She later founded a production company that created video content and provided live coverage for major events.
Drawn to independent filmmaking since her journalism studies, Anya moved to New York to earn an MFA in Film Production at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She deliberately sought hands-on experience across different areas of filmmaking, including sound and cinematography. Her experience in sound later led her to teach location sound and sound design at Tisch.
Today she writes and directs films, works as a cinematographer, consults on editing and film structure, and leads filmmaking labs through Fragmentarium.
