Lab

Fragmentarium

Fragmentarium is a series of filmmaking labs led by Anya Alekhina. Each lab is a different experiment in short-form filmmaking, using filming and editing as ways to observe, reflect and connect with the world. The formats and lengths may vary.

Portrait of
a Place

The first two labs began with a location. Participants used it as a starting point for a short film: a portrait of the place, or an idea that emerged from being there.

They could work through observation or take a more essayistic, diary-like approach.

Make a film
together.

The lab begins with examples, a conversation about film language, an individual meeting and a group discussion of ideas. Participants film in one day, edit the next and share the work at an evening screening.
